(Scoff) Not Another New Year’s Resolution!…

Image

When thinking about New Year’s Resolutions and all the bright vibrant ideas that flood our emotions with hope, we often end our conversation having forgotten everything on our list and realizing the fate of most of those dreams. Instead of resolving these goals, let’s make progress goals and change how we view the entire process of taking on a new year!

Frankly, I consider my birthday my new year, but I love New Year’s because its the only time we are in full unity as a Planet.. Everyone is celebrating one thing together, 100% unity and that makes me so happy.

So back to changing how we approach our resolutions, I think it starts with recognizing that everything is a process and steps towards a goal should be just as important as feeling that sense of achievement.

If you’re shooting for a physical goal, most of the time people dictate that you are making a lifestyle change…. not just something that will happen and then you can go back to old habits. What about a personal goal with how you treat people or something, well that is not something that will become ingrained until awhile from the start and even that kind of goal is continuous. It is always an effort to smile when you don’t want to.

And well, if you think you just want to do new things or something else that’s not super specific you will accomplish that a few times over and can congratulate yourself now, because if you don’t have something you specifically are ‘goaling’ for then the newness of everyday and how you tackle it is a reason to feel accomplished.

What I’m saying is that everything is a long-withstanding effort to continue being your best or to continue pushing yourself towards a goal.

So my idea is to first re-adjust your thoughts on accomplishment:

Start to think about where you were last year

Think about what is happening now that you were dreaming of 365 days ago

Now recognize if your en route to your ideals or if you have strayed. (rinse and repeat)

These kinds of thoughts will help you push through the frustration and defeat of not doing something and give you a reason to keep striving. Even if you have a deadline it’s easier to accomplish it when you set mini milestones along the way. This way you can see how close you are to your ultimate goal. Don’t fret. Even if your not in full swing, if you notice your mind has developed into a stronger you and you feel more and more competent to do something, THAT’S PROGRESS!

I think that wanting to be better and stepping towards that everyday will put you in a place, where you look back and are impressed by how far you’ve come.

All you can do is continue to strive and monitor your progress to make sure you are moving to the fullest potential and with as much efficiency as possible. But remembering that the reason will fail the first time will not be the reason we fail the second time; we will learn and change to make things just right. There is no reason to keep setting beefed up resolutions that you are already assuming will be down the drain by March.

Put your best foot forward everyday and allow yourself to achieve as much as you can. The limits we place in front of ourselves are what keeps us from being happy. Let’s encourage ourselves and look at the potential, the progress, and the mistakes to help us accomplish our life’s goals and do it while spreading our love to those around us.

So what’s your New Year’s Progression?

Happy New Year Everyone

xoxo
